Kimbo Slice returns to fight in UFC 113

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Kimbo Slice is getting his second UFC bout on May 8 in Montreal against former NFL player Matt Mitrione.

The mixed martial arts league confirmed the matchup Monday. Slice and Mitrione will meet on the undercard of UFC 113, headlined by Lyoto Machida's rematch with Mauricio Rua.

Slice is the burly, bearded former Miami strip club bouncer who became the unlikely face of MMA three years ago when CBS began showing his bouts for the EliteXC promotion, which subsequently folded.

Sydney, Australia will be hosting UFC 110

The UFC is going Down Under, the mixed martial arts organization confirmed Wednesday.

UFC 110 is scheduled for Feb. 21 at the Acer Arena in Sydney.

Fights for the card have not yet been announced but the show is expected to feature a matchup between Wanderlei (The Axe Murderer) Silva and English middleweight Michael (The Count) Bisping.

"The Aussies love their sport so, when we first bought the UFC nine years ago, we knew Australia was one of the places we needed to get to with live fights," UFC president Dana White said in a statement. "It's taken us a long time to get there, but we're now on our way and we're coming with a card featuring some of the greatest fighters in the world."

Ultimate hero Khan

ULTIMATE fighter Michael Bisping is looking to Amir Khan for inspiration as he bids to bounce back from only the second defeat of his career.

The Clitheroe mixed martial artist hasn't fought since his second round knockout by Dan Henderson in July.

He takes on Denis Kang at UFC 105 at the MEN Arena on November 14 and says Khan's WBA light-welterweight success at the same venue this summer has been on his mind throughout his preparation for the clash.

Khan has enjoyed a remarkable reversal of fortunes following his stunning defeat to Breidis Prescott last year.

He needed only three fights to turn himself into a world champion with his unanimous points victory over Andreas Kotelnik in July.

And Bisping is hoping to do likewise as he attempts to erase the Henderson defeat from his mind.

"Amir Khan, showed the way you come back from a bad KO defeat," he said. "Amir was written off, but did what he needed to do, didn't stop believing in himself and came back to not only get right back to where he was before, but also go on to win the world title.

"Everyone wrote Amir off, except for himself and the people around him.

Illness forces Lesnar postponement

Brock Lesnar, the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s massive heavyweight titleholder, was forced to withdraw Monday from his highly anticipated Nov. 21 title defense in Las Vegas against Shane Carwin.

Carwin, via his Twitter feed, said the fight will be rescheduled for UFC 108 on Jan. 2.

UFC president Dana White confirmed the news to Yahoo! Sports. White said Lesnar has been ill for more than three-and-a-half weeks and unable to train. With the bout at UFC 106 less than a month away, Lesnar was forced to postpone the title defense.

“He said he’s never been this sick in his life,” White said. “He said it’s been going on for a long time and he just hasn’t been able to shake it.”

Lesnar’s co-manager, Brian Stegeman, said he does not know whether Lesnar had H1N1, commonly known as swine flu, and that he is beyond the stage at which he could be tested for the virus. He said Lesnar had upper respiratory issues, fever and extreme fatigue.
